Opposing Servants Of God

Opposing servants of God is dangerous. If there are individuals opposing your ministries you ought to pray for them. If you are truly serving Him for any length of time there will be some who will oppose you. There have been several individuals that opposed my ministries who had unhappy results. I prayed that the Lord would not permit them to prevent my serving Him and yet be merciful to them. The opposition of some of them was persistent and when they kept it up the Lord was hard on them. One individual who hindered my ministry lost their job, another was transferred to an undesirable job, three had health issues, and one had a considerable financial loss. There were others. I have often wished that I could warn them. I continue to pray for them to this day that the Lord will be merciful to them. They were not all unbelievers. And, of course, I don*t know for certain that their problems were directly caused by their opposition to my ministries, but the timing of their misfortunes seemed to permit my ministries to continue, to keep doors open for the gospel.

Genesis 12:3: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

I believe this principle applies to Abraham*s physical and spiritual descendants, believers among both Israelites and Gentiles.

2 Chronicles 16:9a: For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. . . .

Romans 4:9: Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Cain opposed Abel and lost his life.

Pharaoh opposed Moses and lost his son and much more.

King Saul opposed David and lost his throne and life.

Absalom, David*s son tried to supplant him on the throne of Israel and lost his life.

Ahab and Jezebel opposed Elija and lost their lives.

Elymas the sorcerer opposed the apostle Paul and was blinded for a time.

Acts 13:8: But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
